Dang is situated in Mid-western Development region and Rapti zone. This lies between 27 36’ to 28 29’ Northern latitude and 82 2’ to 82 5’ Eastern Longitude and above the altitude of 213 to 2058 metres above the sea level. The district covers the land area of 2955 sq. km. or 295500 hectares.
This comprises of two municipalities and 39 VDCs have two large valleys Dang and Deukhuri as well as a smaller valley called ‘Tuhi Dang’. There are Tharu, Magar and Avadhi speaking ethno-cultural diversity and ecological diversity of hill, inner terai and terai region.

Goraksha Siddha
Ratnanath Peeth
This site is situated in GhorahiMunicipality ward No. 4 Chaughera, one and half km. east by Ghorahi Lamahi high way. This place in the ancient academy of the Natha cult. This particula peeth (Hermitage) primarily associated with the history is also the centre of Yoga, arts and spiritual thinking. Historical site Sawarikot and ancient temple Mathorya are related to this Peeth.
AmbikeshwariTemple
This temple is situated in GhorahiMunicipality ward No.5, Ambapur Dang. The temple also known as ‘Maiko Than’ (Mother’s Place) is situated to the north of Ghorahi one and half kilometres away on bank of Katuwa Khola. This Shaktipeetha is supposed to have been emerged due to the falling of right ear of Satidevi according to the Swasthani Purana. This temple is the most popular Shaktipeeth of Dang.
Pandaveshwar Shiva Mandir Dharpani
This religious site is situated in Dharna VDC ward no. 1, Dharpani. The temple is located on the bank of Babai river and bhase of Siwalik hill. To reach there one has to travel by a gravel road of 9 km. from Ghorahi to the south. The myth reads that the Pandavas had worshipped lord Shiva ath this place while travelling towards northern way. So this is supposed to be the one of the holiest religous spot.
Sukaurakot
Sukaurakot is situated in Urahari VDC ward No.9, Sukaura around eight kilometres south of TulsipurMunicipality. This site situated in the northern bank of Babai river is supposed to be the Palace area of ancient Tharu Royal palace. This area supposed to be established Tharu king Dangisaran can be regarded as most important spot. The debris of Tharu palace and coins marked “Dangi” is found over here.

Buddhist Gumba
The Gumba (BuddhistTemple) is situated in Ghorahi municipality ward No. 6, Upper Dhoreni Majure Danda. The Gumba situated on the base of the mountain is one and half kilometres far to the north of Ghorahi Bazaar. A Chhorten (Math-Gore) has been built over here. The Gumba located in peaceful and naturally beautiful place is the only place for the Buddhist of this region to pay their homage.
Purandhara Waterfalls
This natural waterfalls is situated in Purandhara VDC ward no. 8, in the jungle area. It is about 40km. far from Tulsipur to the west and the water falls from 50 metres above. Other attractions surrounding this natural heritage are the holy Babai river with sufficient water resources and the forest full of biodiversity.
Bagar Baba Religious
Place Rihar
This area is situated in Satvariya VDC ward No. 8, Rihar located in the second largest valley of Deukhuri. The site is around 20 km west of Lamahi and on the bank of East-West highway. The area is on the base of Siwalik hill and Rapti river runs by its southern side of the religious area. This place is supposed to have associations with the local Tharu as well as Yadav cultures. This site contains warm water spring and salty water.
Sakhya Naach (Dance)
This is widely popular folk dance among the people of Tharu community of Dang and Deukhuri valleys. Sakhya is performed during Dashain festival and it describes the story of lord Krishna based Tharu Folk Bhagavata Purana. This is performed for many days because of its lengthy scriptures. The youths of Tharu community partake this dance. Sakhya is the important cultural heritage of Dang.
Chamere Gufa (BatCave)
This is situated in Halawar VDC ward no. 5, Mulkot. The cave, Located in the Mahabharata mountain range, is around 15km North east of Tulsipur is a natural one. The cave that is supposed to have been used by the prehistoric human being and lots of stone weapons have been found around the area and in the river that run off the slope. In order to facilitate the observation of the multi storied cave stairs and electricity facility have been managed.

Bahrakune Daha
This is located in Ghorahi Municipality Ward no. 7, Sewar, around 3km North west of Ghorahi on the base of Mahabharata range. A fair is held on Maghe Sankranti ( First day of the month of Magh). Thearea slong with Jyamire Daha, wetland area and Maulakot areas are also importance from the touristic, religious as well as cultural point of view.
Jakhera Taal (Lake)
JakheraLake is located in Sonpur VDC of Deukhuri valley ward No. 5. It is located to the north of east west high way around one and half km way on the base of Siwalik hill on its north. The lake has been spread on the land area of about 9 hectares and has been established as famous picnic spot, natural sightseeing, boating and biodiversity.
Boating on RaptiRiver
Dang area is rich in terms of water resources. Rapti river flows via Deukhuri valley and Babai flows via the southern part of Dang valley. The probability of rafting, canoeing and kayaking in the rivers of Dang is very high.
